Shau Kei Wan was one of the fishing villages in early years. Shau Kei Wan Main Street East retains the look of an early-developed district. Most of the buildings are has over 20 years. Apart from a variety of shops and restaurants, the Tin Hau Temple and Shing Wong Temple can be found in the street. A annual parades are held every year to celebrate the birthdays of the local deities. There is also a loop-shaped tramway track near the junction of Main Street East and Kam Wa Street.
