Hong Kong Park is a kaleidoscope of flora and fauna covering an area of 8 hectares in the teeming urban centre. Flowing water has been adopted as a motif to link various features of the Park, namely by the artificial lake at the centre of the Park, waterfalls, steams and cliffs made from artificial rocks. It is an example of modern cityscape blending with natural landscape. The Park is rich in its plantation, with the Foresgate Conservatory standing at the hillside. The Conservatory features a variety of plants ranging from cacti and succulents from the arid region to economic crops like vanilla and rubber tree from the humid region. Adjustable environmental control equipment, such as an automatic fogging system, is installed underneath the glazed cover to create different climatic condition. The Edward Youde Aviary is built along the natural valley on the northern slope. It features extensive bird species in a well-designed tropical rainforest with suspending stainless steel mesh spanning the entire valley. Birds trees and plants can be viewed from the raised walkway in the Aviary at various angles and elevations. Olympic Square is designed for staging activities such as sports promotion events, outdoor exhibitions and other entertainment events. It also serves as a rest place at other times.
