Characteristic

The building of the Eastern Street Methadone Clinic was first opened in 1891 as a lunatic asylum for Chinese patients. It is a 2-storey red brick and granite structure. It has a simple pitched roof and is Renaissance Classical Revival in style with scant ornamentation. It is now a Grade II historic building. The exteriors of the building are available for location filming.

How to Apply

Call before sending the application form to Senior Hospital Administrator (General)2 one month in advance of the filming date with information on the exact date, time, description of the scenes and activities, number of crew members and vehicles.

Fees

$7,090 (basic charge) for the first 4 hours, $1,990 for each subsequent 4-hour block and a refundable deposit equal to the fees payable. Both are to be paid before filming.

If extra Government personnel or equipment is required to assist in the production, the actual cost plus 20% overheads will be recovered.

Remarks

Filming can only take place when the clinic concerned is closed.
Erection of any fixtures or fittings in the property or making any alterations to the property, including of any fittings therein, is not allowed without prior approval of the Department.
The applicant/company shall restrict the use of the property to the purpose stated in the application form during the permitted period of use and take all necessary precautions to ensure that such location filming will not cause any danger or personal injury or damage to the property of the Department or any other persons.
The name of the property and the logo of the Department shall not be identified unless specific permission is sought and obtained from the Department.
The nature of the film shall not be a cause of embarrassment to either the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Department, the property itself or any of its occupants whether they be tenants, visitors, other invitees or licencees, nor should it contravene the laws of Hong Kong or be of immoral, defamatory or political flavour.
No smoking is allowed in both indoor and open areas of the property of the Department.
Lighting of fire or the use of fireworks, explosives and any pyrotechnic or inflammable materials are strictly forbidden.
The applicant is advised to study the complete guidelines for location filming carefully before tendering applications.
