Cham Shan Monastery was built in 1964 in Clear Water Bay, facing Sheung Sze Wan Bench. The Great Buddha's Hall is one of the largest in Hong Kong, occupying about 929 sq m and more than 40 ft in height. Inside the hall are the statues of the Lord Buddha - Amitabha, the Buddha of Healing, Maitreya, the Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Temple Guardian and Luohan. There are also Hall of Tathagata, Hall of Guanyin, Hall of Forefather and the pagoda-shaped reliquary of the founder of the temple. The temple also enshrines the relic of the Buddha from Sri Lanka. The square outside the Great Buddha's Hall is about 1,858 sq m in size. The greens and the hills surrounding the temple provide an idyllic environment for worshippers and visitors. The Temple is one of the most sought after locations for filming costume dramas.
