Yan Hing Street Refuse Collection Point is located in Tai Po. Inside, the walls are covered with green tiles and it is lighted by flourescent tubes. Next to it is an outdoor area enclosed by iron fences, which is used for keeping refuse collection bins. This is one of the permanent off-street refuse collection points managed by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department. They are normally housed in detached low-rise buildings in which large open spaces are provided for refuse collection bins and vehicles. The new type of public refuse collection points are designed to be visually pleasant and odourless, and are equipped with water scrubber systems, vehicle exhaust extraction systems and high-pressure water jet cleaners. In some of them are installed large-scale turn-tables to facilitate the in and out movements of refuse collection vehicles. Most of the refuse collection points operate throughout the day. Some of those in busy areas operate until midnight.
