Hong Kong Heritage Museum complex occupying a gross floor area of 28,500 sq m, with an exhibition area totalling 7,500 sq m is the largest museum of its kind in Hong Kong. The museum adopts the traditional Chinese courtyard architectural design and is constructed with modern techniques. The courtyard design is characterised by a central axis creating a balanced and symmetrical outlook. The building is a 5-storey complex adorned with Chinese-style roofs and corridors linking all the exhibition galleries. The central courtyard is a roofless space letting sunlight and fresh air into the compound.

Call before sending in the application form with information on the location, date, time, nature of activities, synopsis of the film, description of the scenes, props set to be used, size of the crew and cast, equipment list, use of Government power supply and a copy of the public liability insurance cover.
Processing time : 7 working days for simple/straightforward cases and payment by cash. 10 or more working days for complicated cases such as those involving consultation with relevant government departments/ property owners etc., and/or payment by cheque.
$6,870 (basic charge) for the first 4 hours, $1,935 for each subsequent 4-hour block and a refundable deposit equal to the fees payable.
If extra government personnel is required to assist in the filming, the actual cost plus overheads will be charged.
Fees are to be paid before filming.
Applicants shall effect a public liability insurance in the sum of $6.5 million to $30 million (depending on the risk level) in the joint names of the Government of the HKSAR and the company at their own expense, with terms and conditions to be approved by the Department.
Filming for commercial purposes inside the exhibition galleries and security areas of the museum will not be accepted whereas other areas will be considered on individual merits.
Compliments to the government and public bodies that have agreed to consider applications to hire premises or facilities under their management for location filming.
