The Amah Rock is located at a hill top to the south-west of Sha Tin. The height of the rock is almost the sum total of 6 to 7 men standing on top of one another. The shape of the rock resembling a woman carrying a baby at her back has given rise to a poignant story. The legend tells of a woman whose husband had set sail for fishing. Failing to hear from him since then, the woman waited, day and night for the return of her husband on the hill top carrying a baby at her back. An unexpected thunderstorm, however, swept through on a fatal day turning the woman and her baby into the now well-known "Mong Fu Shek" (rock awaiting return of the husband).
