Occupying an area of 480 sq m, the Hong Kong Correctional Services Museum is housed in a 2-storey building next to the parade ground of the Hong Kong Correctional Services Academy in Stanley. Inside the museum, there are 9 galleries, 1 mock gallows and 2 mock cells. A mock guard tower constructed on the top of the premises highlights the theme of the museum. In addition, there is an annex for the display of products made by inmates. The Community Education Centre for exhibitions and talks is to introduce the Correctional Services Department's correctional and rehabilitative programmes to the public. A 200 sq m look-out in front of the museum commands the scenery of Tai Tam Bay.
Call before applying in writing at least 8 working days in advance of the filming date with information on the location, date, time, purpose of the filming, name of film, synopsis of the film, description of the scenes and activities, filming schedule, size of the crew, cast and equipment list.
$7,090 (basic charge) for the first 4 hours, $1,990 for each subsequent 4-hour block and a refundable deposit equal to the fees payable. All fees are to be paid before filming.
If extra government personnel is required to assist in the filming, the actual cost plus overheads will be charged.
Applicants may be required to effect a public liability insurance at their own expense in the joint names of the Government of the HKSAR and the company, with terms and conditions to be approved by the Department.
Filming for commercial purpose inside the exhibition galleries and security areas of the museum will not be accepted whereas that in the other areas will be considered on individual merits.
Compliments to the government and public bodies that have agreed to consider applications to hire premises or facilities under their management for location filming.
