Golden Bauhinia Square is located next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (New Wing). The golden Statue of Bauhinia was a gift given by the People's Republic of China to celebrate the establishment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. A pillar commemorating the reunification of Hong Kong with China is situated at the centre of the square. A flag raising ceremony is launched at 8 am every day. At 8 am on the 1st, 11th and 21st of every month, a flag raising party comprising police officers in ceremonial dress raise the flag while the Police Silver Band play the National Anthem. Golden Bauhinia Square faces the harbour of Wan Chai and provides pretty scenes of Victoria Harbour.
