A Fire Boat is an independent fire fighting unit to attend to ship fires, fires at off-shore islands and aircraft crash incidents. It is used as mobile control for major fire fighting and rescue operations at sea, the base pump for water relay during water restriction period and in any No 3 Alarm Fire or above where the fire ground is close to seafront. It also assists fire fighting on land where the fire ground is close to seafront and Fire Services divers in drowning cases. Fireboat Elite has a displacement of 620 tonnage and is equipped with automatic fire-fighting system. The water monitor can eject water up to a distance of 150 m. Mostly, it is to deal with fires at large vessels such as freighters. The vessel is the most advanced fireboat in the world. It has a passenger capacity of 101 persons and is berthed at Central Fireboat Station to provide fire and rescue cover to Victoria Harbour and nearby areas. Fireboat 2 can carry 32 persons and is berthed at Mui Wo Fireboat Pier to afford fire and rescue cover to the south-western waters. Fireboat 3 is a reserve fireboat carrying up to 48 persons and is temporarily berthed at Tung Lo Wan Fireboat Station and to be deployed as required. Fireboat 4 can carry 24 persons and is berthed at Aberdeen Fireboat Station to provide fire and rescue cover to Aberdeen Harbour and southern waters. Fireboat 5 can carry 32 persons and is berthed at Tuen Mun Fireboat Station to provide fire and rescue cover to the north-western waters including the Hong Kong International Airport. Fireboat 6 (Excellence) has a passenger capacity of 100 persons and is berthed at Tsing Yi Fireboat Station since 18.4.2005 to provide fire and rescue cover to Kwai Chung Container Ports, oil installations on Tsing Yi and the western anchorage area. Fireboat 7 can carry up to 510 persons and is a reserve fireboat berthed at West Sea Rescue Berth of the Airport and to be deployed as required. Fireboat 8 is a personnel launch with a passenger capacity of 24 persons and is berthed at Tung Lo Wan Fireboat Station.

$6,870 for the first 4 hours (basic charge), $1,935 for each subsequent 4-hour block and a refundable deposit equal to the fees payable.
