The Island Eastern Corridor was completed in October 1989. It is a 9 km trunk road connecting Causeway Bay to Chai Wan on the Hong Kong Island. Built along the north shore, beautiful scenery of Kowloon East can be seen from the corridor. It comprises mainly elevated roads above the harbour and the ground level part of it is built on reclaimed land. In 2003, improvement works to the corridor was completed for North Point Interchange to Sai Wan Ho, to ease traffic flows.
