Mong Kok is one of the earliest developed areas in Kowloon. It is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Modern high-rise buildings are built along Nathan Road, whereas old buildings of 5 or 6 storeys and with long and narrow staircases are clustered in Tung Choi Street (east of Nathan Road) and Shanghai Street (west of Nathan Road). Nelson Street and Sai Yeung Choi Street South near MTR Mong Kok Station are often crowded throughout the day. The Tung Choi Street market (also known as "Ladies' Street"), stretches for 4 blocks between Argyle Street and Dundas Street. It operates from 4 pm to 12 midnight from Mondays to Saturdays and from 12 noon to 12 midnight on Sundays and public holidays. All sorts of bargain buys can be found here, including menswear, womenswear, watches, accessories, small household items and toys.
