Lyndhurst Terrace
Characteristic
Back in 1840s, Lyndhurst Terrace was once a district full of western brothels. There were many florist shops for the whoremasters to buy flowers for the prostitutes. The Chinese so called it "the street of placing flower". Nowadays, florist shops are no longer operating here. The street has become a rather chic area for dining and shopping. Besides modern and trendy shops, one can also find crafts and antiques from early Chinese dynasties available for sale. Lyndhurst Terrace links to the Hollywood Road from the north. Formerly, it did not belong to the SoHo district (that is, South of Hollywood Road, including Shelley Street, Elgin Road, Peel Street, Staunton Street and Old Bailey Street, is famous for a variety of chic restaurants offering a huge range of international cuisine), but as more and more stylish restaurants moved to the street, people nowadays cannot clearly tell the boundaries of SoHo and tend to take Lyndhurst Terrace as part of the paradise for the gourmets.
