The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) campus is strategically located at Hung Hom on a 9.46 hectare site adjacent to the Cross Harbour Tunnel. On top of its well-known redbrick complex, PolyU is now strung together by a community of visually coherent buildings yet different in the architectural design. Jockey Club Innovation Tower, masterminded by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid, is constructed with glasses and hardly has any straight line. It seamlessly dissolves the typical typography of the Tower and the podium into a fluid composition. The Tower has a net floor area of 15,000 sq m, housing a lecture hall, design studios, as well as exhibition spaces and a communal viewing lounge. Jockey Club Auditorium is 4,900 sq m in area and provides over 1,000 seats. It is a venue for cultural activities, international conferences and exchange activities, exhibitions and other functions. The student halls constructed in the Hunghom Bay Reclamation are within 15 minutes walking distance from the main campus.
