Murray House was established in 1846 on the present site of the Bank of China Tower. The 3-storey Georgian-style building was once quarters for the British Officers. When it was dismantled in 1982, the stones and other components were numbered for reconstruction. In 1998, the building with wide tiled-verandahs, granite columns and a pitched roof, was rebuilt in exactly the same way in Stanley to form part of the Stanley Plaza. One can enjoy a panoramic view of Stanley Bay from the terrace on the right. The other side is a walkway leading to Tin Hau Temple, decorated with stone columns originated in Shanghai Street, Kowloon.
