Sai Ying Pun has been reputed as a trading centre of salted fish and dried seafood. Most of the dealers are found along Des Voeux Road West between Queen Street and Centre Street. Associated with the seafood trade, the area also inhabits the majority of Hong Kong's processing workshops of salted fish, shark fins, sacks, reeds, etc. Most of the workshops are of a small scale and located in residential tenements.
