The 13-storey Kowloon City Magistrates' Court Building was built to replace the 30-year-old San Po Kong Magistracy Building. Opened in October 2001, the main body of the building, comprising 11 courtrooms, office and services areas, is positioned close to the junction of Argyle Street and Lomond Road while the 3-storey part with podium garden is on Lomond Road. Apart from a lot of greenery and space, curtain wall is employed from the 5th floor upwards to give a pleasant view to the public concourse inside and to symbolise 'transparency' for the new Magistrates' Court Building. The external wall of the building is finished with ceramic wall tiles and unified visually by horizontal bands of aluminum cladding.
