Sai Kung Country Park
Characteristic
Most of the land surface of the Sai Kung Peninsula, except the village areas, is covered by 2 country parks, namely the Sai Kung East Country Park and the Sai Kung West Country Park, with a total area of about 7,500 hectares. There are 4 country park centres, which are responsible for the development of further facilities, the management of the parks and the prevention of hill fires. The most popular places in the parks are Wong Chuk Wan, Tai Mong Tsai, Pak Tam Chung, Sai Wan, Wong Shek Pier and Cheung Sheung plateau. Along Tai Mong Tsai Road, from Long Keng to Wong Chuk Wan, barbecue sites are provided at suitable locations for picnickers and families. The "Picnic Garden" at Pak Tam Chung is provided with facilities specially designed for the disabled. The Sai Kung Country Park Visitor Centre, located at Pak Tam Chung, presents pictorial displays of the natural environment of Sai Kung and its rural development, details of High Island Water Scheme and the characteristics of the country parks. There is an audiovisual room showing short videos on country parks and conservation. It also provides factual information on the facilities and activities available in the Sai Kung Country Parks. In addition, there are 4 country park tree walking trails located in Kei Ling Ha, Pak Tam Chung, Tai Tan and Wong Shek. These are pleasant and relatively short walks. On-site interpretative plates are installed to provide interesting information about the tree species.

How to Apply
Send the application form to the Department at least 3 working days in advance of the filming date with information on the exact location (with relevant maps, either the Countryside Series or other maps in scale of 1:25,000 or larger attached), date, time, scenes to be taken, nature of activities involved, vehicles and bicycles to be taken into the country park, props and structures (sketches with scale should be provided).

Permit fee : $250/ day (0900 - 1630 hours)
Remarks
- Each filming activity should not exceed 6 days. Filming is normally not allowed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
- Vehicles over 5.5 tonnes will not be permitted to be taken into a country park. Vehicles to enter Tai Tam Country Park (Quarry Bay Extension) will not be permitted on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
- Film crew vehicles will not in principle be allowed to enter the following country park tracks :
- between Shing Mun Fung Shui Woodland and Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve;
- between Twisk Management Centre and Tai Lam Chung Management Centre; and
- tracks inside Lung Fu Shan Country Park.
- The following activities are strictly forbidden :
- lighting of fire or the use of fireworks, explosives or any pyrotechnic materials;
- chasing or rallying of vehicles (including motorcycles and bicycles);
- fishing in reservoir area during off-fishing-season, i.e. 1 April - 31 August;
- bathing, washing, swimming and boating in reservoir area and/or water gathering grounds;
- stunt acts involving actors jumping from trees or timber posts in Wisdom Path with wire hanging to trees, and damaging or killing or felling of any tree, bamboo or timber posts;
- discharging waste water or polluting water sources; - abstracting water, obstructing water flow, displacing rocks and boulders or any other activities that will disturb the natural stream habitats; and
- any other acts restricted by the Country Parks and Special Areas Regulations (e.g. bringing in cattle, horse, sheep, goats, pigs or poultry) and the Laws of Hong Kong, unless specific permission has been granted,.
- Erecting props or structures in the following areas will generally not be permitted :
- areas close to Country Park Management Centres and warden posts;
- inside of any picnic/barbecue/camp sites; and
- hilltops.
- If filming vehicles will be used in Lantau Island, the applicant shall apply to the Transport Department for ""Lantau Closed Road Permit"" at least 3 weeks in advance of the filming (tel : 2399 2444).
- The applicant shall apply to the Transport Department at least 3 weeks in advance of the filming for bringing any vehicles to and from Mount Parker Road in Quarry Bay (tel : 2829 5814 or 2829 5815).
- If filming vehicles are to be brought to Amah Rock through catchwater road, permission from the Water Supplies Department (tel : 2829 4718) should be sought. Vehicles over 3 tonnes will not be permitted to enter.
- The site must be properly cleared and reinstated after the filming.
