Sand Martin Bridge
Characteristic
Sand Martin Bridge, situated at Sha Tin Rural Committee Road, bridges over Shing Mun River Channel in the heart of Sha Tin town. It is named as such to commemorate the victory of the first baseball team of Chinese youth 'Sand Martin'. The team beat an overseas team and won the championship in a competition in 1983. On the bridge are a 4-lane dual carriageway with pedestrian walkways and cycling tracks, bounded by aluminium vehicular parapets and pedestrian fences. It offers beautiful scenes of Lek Yuen Bridge and Shing Mun River Channel.
