Aberdeen South Typhoon Shelter
Characteristic
Aberdeen South Typhoon Shelter is located in the narrow water between Ap Lei Chau and Wong Chuk Hang. The best panoramic view of the typhoon shelter is from Nam Long Shan Road near Ocean Park. Rows of pleasure boats neatly docked in the crescent-like typhoon shelter by tall residential buildings on both sides. There is also a floating restaurant in the typhoon shelter, nearer to the Aberdeen side. The view from Sham Wan is a spectacular and unobstructed one of the South China Sea.

How to Apply
Send the application form to the Information and Public Relations Section with information on the location, date, time, purpose of filming, name of the film, brief description of the filming plan, size of the crew and a copy of Business Registration Certificate and Operating Licences of the vessels involved.
Processing time : 7 working days.
For filming that involves the use of pyrotechnics, the applicant should obtain permission from Entertainment Special Effects Licensing Authority (tel : 2594 0465 or 2594 0466).
If open burning and/or potential pollution at sea is involved, the applicant should obtain permission from Environmental Protection Department (tel : 2838 3111).
Fees
The administrative charge for the permit is $160. Additional costs will be charged by other government departments when special equipment or services are required for safety reasons.
Remarks
- Application is required for filming likely to affect marine traffic or other port users or the service of marine facilities, including fairways, typhoon shelters, anchorages, Victoria Harbour, ports, boating areas, waters adjacent to gazetted beaches and public piers, etc.
- A permit is required if a filming or related activity is regulated under the Shipping and Port Control Ordinance or Merchant Shipping (Local Vessels) Ordinance.
