Wan Chai Ferry Pier
Characteristic
Wan Chai Ferry Pier, a 2-storey pier building located near the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, opened in August 2014. The design of the column bracings of the pier adopts an abstract "wall-tree" pattern, a feature that used to appear in the historic masonry retaining walls in the Wan Chai and Central areas. The open pier structure brings in natural light and gives the pier a modern outlook. The public landscaped observation deck on the roof provides a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour and the promenades on both side of the harbour. The pier is operated by Star Ferry Company Ltd for ferry services between Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui.
