The Light Rail system was first introduced in 1988 to provide services to residents of the northwestern New Territories, including Tuen Mun, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai. Light Rail stops largely built at ground-level are convenient for boarding and alighting. Each of these stops comprises a platform station with open fare system without admission gate. Light Rail Tai Hing (South) Stop is operated with 2 platforms opposite to each other with Tai Fong Street in between, and is surrounded by a bus terminus and residential buildings.

Applicants shall effect a public liability insurance in the sum of $30 million in the joint names of the MTR Corporation Limited and the company.
